How To Paint Plastic
Painting plastic can be very hard, if you do not do it right, you can experience problems like runs and chipping. It is important to know how to prep and paint plastics so your finished product is flawless and long lasting.
What you need:
- Water Bucket
- Rags
- Dish Soap
- Fine Sandpaper (180-220 grit)
- Isopropyl Alcohol
- Custom Aerosol Products Spray Paint
The first step of prep is cleaning the surface. You want a nice surface to be able to accurately sand paint. Next step is to sand, start with a 180 grit and go do a 220 grit. Sand the surface with light, even strokes. Once you are finished with sanding, it is time to clean again, make sure you get all the dust off. Once cleaned, wipe down the surface with Isopropyl Alcohol to get the surface prepped for paint. Finally, it is time to paint! Spray even light coats on the plastic to prevent runs. If there are runs, wait until the paint is dry and sand them out. You can respray as needed.
